Loving Kindness Meditation Resource

Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) utilizes loving kindness meditation (LKM) as a mood induction skill. When you are able to generate the feelings associated with warmth and connection, you are more likely to find your nervous system reading your environment from a place of safety instead of threat.


This skill is helpful before your system is challenged.


Consider using LKM to start your day, before a social interaction, as a way to pause in the middle of your day, or before going to sleep. Use this meditation each day for a week and see what you notice.


I am including two recordings of the RO-DBT version of LKM. The first one is the standard RO-DBT script, the second has been modified to use the word gratitude in place of the words loving kindness.
